This well-known UK pie manufacturer needed a DSEAR compliant dust extraction system to safely remove explosive flour dust from various process lines.
Filtermist's dust team specified a Dustcheck Maxi 9 FS filter as part of a larger dust extraction system installation. As it was for flour dust which is highly combustible, an ATEX rated filter unit was required.
The dust collector needed an explosion panel, but the location (external car park) meant a wedge should be fitted to move the vent off the horizontal plane, so in the unlikely event of an explosion the flame would vent vertically up. On this unit, in lieu of the wedge, a DivEx Flame Deflector was fitted, so if the explosion vent ever bursts under an explosion the panel will hit the deflector bars and the flame will then vent up towards the sky.
