Jota Advanced Engineering
Jota Advanced Engineering manufactures precision components for the motorsport industry, including wishbones, housings and rotors. The company operates a fleet of Haas CNC machines, including UMC 750 machining centres, VF4 SS machining centres, ST30/DS30 turning centres, a Super Mini Mill 2, and ST10/ST25 turning centres, machining aluminium and steel.
As Jota expanded its machine shop and added more machines, it wanted to be sure that the machine shop was a clean and safe place to work.
Jota machines a range of materials including aluminium and steel, resulting in a lot of mist particles: “The high RPMs on the aluminium generate a hell of a lot of mist," commented Jota Advanced Engineering Director, Ryan Goodger.
Since installation, the Filtermist oil mist filters have effectively eliminated oil mist from the working environment, creating a cleaner, safer workshop. Ryan noted the Filtermist units are "really doing a good job of taking care of the environment for us." Downtime during installation was minimised as the Filtermist team worked over the weekend to fit the units without disrupting production.
Following a recommendation from machine tool supplier Haas, Jota invested in 10 Filtermist oil mist filters: two FX7002 units for the UMC 750 machining centres, two FX5002s for the VF4 SS machining centres, three FX4002s for the ST30 and DS30 turning centres, two S800s for the Super Mini Mill 2 and ST25, and one S400 for the ST10 turning centre.
"Keeping control of the environment for our staff is super important. With our [Haas] purchase, we had every machine instantly fitted with Filtermist," Ryan commented.
